ELIGIBILITY & HANDICAPS

Designed to provide excitement and honor to all amateur golfers in representing their country in world-class competition with players of similar skill levels. This competition follows USGA and R amateur rules.

Eligibility

All players (both WAGC and WAGI) must provide proof of nationality or residency of the country they represent. While this is typically not an issue at the national level, it is extremely important for those participating in the World Finals. All players (both WAGC and WAGI) must hold a valid passport and have certified proof of residency from the country they represent.

Handicaps

Each country participating in the World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) must establish a National Handicap Committee (NHC) to oversee handicaps and competition results of players. If an NHC cannot be established, the country’s Licensee must perform this role instead and be responsible for verifying the accuracy of the entire team’s handicaps, including national-level competition results.

World Final

Handicap System: The competition uses the World Handicap System (WHS) or an equivalent system that is certified in that country. Players must submit documentation confirming their latest handicap from their affiliated association or club before participating in the competition.

Player handicaps will be reviewed and may be adjusted by the Tournament Committee if information is found to be inconsistent with actual playing form or if there are doubts about accuracy.

Players without handicaps from official associations may be considered for participation only in WAGI events under special conditions.

Competition Format

The competition will be held in stroke play format, 18 holes on each course. Players with the lowest “net score” will be declared winners. Participants will compete in 5 categories based on their Course Handicap, calculated from Handicap Index, Slope Rating, and Course Rating.
